Tango Fruit characteristics
Seedless: They are seedless fruit, which means a greater commercial value as well as more safety and comfort at home.
Commercial Characteristics: The most appreciated characteristics are present in the fruits: they are easy to peel, juicy and deep orange in color, setting them apart from competitors.
Mid-late season: A mid-late season fruits that mature during the months of January, February and March in the Northern Hemisphere and during June, July and August in the Southern Hemisphere. Consumption periods are thus longer.
Eco-friendly: They are sterile varieties and thus, cross-pollination pollen transfer between different species by means of the wind, bees and other insects is avoided. The sterile pollen does not contaminate other citrus species in the areas where Tango/Tang Gold and Gold Nugget are planted. Contamination by pollen from other species is also avoided because the ovules are sterile as well. Tango/Tang Gold and Gold Nugget trees and bees can perfectly coexist and the essential role of the latter as pollination agents is not impeded.
Traceability: Producer, marketer/packer and country of origin are all identified.
Varietal Warranty: The necessary mechanisms to legally certify the variety for marketing purposes are present.
